Important Historical and Biblical Context
Alexander crossed into Asia Minor in 334 BC and defeated a Persian force at the Granicus. His campaign reshaped political power, but its meaning differed from city to city. Many impressive buildings on this route are later Hellenistic or Roman works. The Alexander Sarcophagus in Istanbul depicts Alexander; it is not his own tomb. Stories about Achilles and Alexander’s visits are discussed as ancient literary traditions. Christian sites near Ephesus belong to later chapters of the region’s history.
Why This Route
The journey follows western Anatolia from the straits to Caria, with a sustained Ephesus stay and Iasos visited on the way to Bodrum. It combines campaign history with the development of the cities before and after Alexander.
Who Is This Tour For
Classical history enthusiasts, archaeological societies, educational groups, and travelers who enjoy detailed site visits and discussion of historical sources.

No. The Alexander Sarcophagus is a separate object associated with representations of him, not his burial.
Why visit later Christian sites?
They show how the Ephesus region continued to change after the classical period.
Can we add a sailing holiday?
Yes. A four-day gulet extension can be quoted separately, subject to season and availability.
